Establishing the base camp

The new site hut has arrived this afternoon, special delivery from the fabricators in Motherwell. This will be the operations base camp for the next 9 months for Barden Developments.

The 32' x 10' unit is a converted high security steel container with steel window shutters and high security four lever lockset on the door. The colour has been chosen to minimise the visual impact. Inside there are welfare facilities for the workmen: a kitchen and a WC along with tables, chairs and clothes storage and drying.

The unit came on the back of a HIAB truck, expertly offloaded and levelled in 10 minutes.

The office weighs about 4 tonnes, and is fully wired with plug sockets, insulated and decorated. Indeed the paint was still drying inside when we took delivery!
