Setting it out

Making sure the foundations are in the right place, particularly the bolts for the steelwork is very important in the early stage of the building. This is the process that engineers call "setting out".

The yellow theodolite shown in this picture is checking the plan position of the bolt boxes.

The surveyor's staff is checking the vertical position of the bolt boxes.
